Carrots are one of the most popular root vegetables, and one which we all love here at the allotment.
Sowing and Harvesting
Carrots should be sown outdoors in April, and harvested when they appear fully grown. They need stone free soil, or they may become mishaped. They are also prone to diseases and pests, so we will be companion planting them with Marigolds, which are often bought as grown plants from garden centres.
They should not be over watered, but can often be grown in medium to lowish light conditions so long as they are not damp, or they may rot.
